CA Arts Advocates - Your Lobbying Voice in Sacramento

As a 501(c)4, CA Arts Advocates is a comprehensive lobbying organization for the arts, culture and creative industries, working to influence equitable and just systems change through public policy and public investment. Your membership supports direct lobbying efforts with state representatives and agencies, coalition building, policy analysis and writing and accountability advocacy over policies and agencies impacting our field.

Your Membership Fuels Life-Changing Impact. Advocacy is real work, and it is the essential engine that turns creative passion into policy victories. Your membership is the only way we can deliver direct legislative power in Sacramento. Unlike project grants, most foundations cannot fund direct lobbying. We are almost entirely dependent on individual and organizational memberships to hire our contract lobbyist and ensure the creative sector has a decisive voice at the Capitol.

        Your Impact as a Member

Your support today secures real impact by:

        • Securing Increased Public Investment: We actively lobby for increased and sustained state funding across state agencies and in innovative programs to ensure arts workers, cultural nonprofits and creative businesses have access to public funding and capital for a thriving and sustainable creative economy.
        • Championing  Economic Justice for Artists: We advance policies that reduce barriers, ensure fair pay, secure living wages, and establish a vital safety net for artists and the entire creative workforce.
        • Creating Affordable Spaces for Creativity: We fight for long-term policy solutions—including affordable housing and live/work spaces—to keep artists anchored in the communities they enrich.
        • Centering Artists in Public Policy: We advocate for artists and culture bearers to be recognized as drivers of  system-wide change by integrating their perspectives and work into public policies across sectors, including health, climate, housing, economic development, and social justice.

"A big thank you from The Music Center! We are so very grateful for your and CAA's leadership to meet this moment. Your ability to consolidate the key leg issues and offer us the tools for focused advocacy has been crucial in this time. We know that this is the long haul and our work must continue - anchoring us through joy, connection, cultural meaning and creative expression during some of the most precarious times."
